ALJ at the 2003 UCT: Day 1
On Thursday, May 1st, Johnson headed to Plainfield minus a player, with unfavorable weather conditions, and deminished hopes, but the team still came through with an impressive showing in Day 1 of the 2003 UCT. The matches were delayed 45 minutes in the morning due to wet courts, but by the afternoon the sun came out.

(2nd doubles)- Victor Broccoli/ Bill Weslosky- (W) Vs. UC, 7-5, 6-0 (W) Vs. O, 6-0, 6-4
Play continues, as day 2 begins Friday morning in Plainfield. 1st singles and 2nd doubles are still alive, in the semis, while the rest will play from the backdraw for 5th place.

Johnson 5th at 2003 UCT
Despite the absense of Mike Monagle and a suprising upset of 1st singles Mike Klimchak, the Johnson tennis team finished a respectable 5th place in Union County after Day 2 of the 2003 Union County Tournament in Plainfield. The second doubles team of Victor Broccoli and Bill Weslosky won the bronze medals for third place at second doubles. Mike Klimchak won third place as well, for first singles. As for the team competition, Summit ran away with the tournament, defeating Westfield by 20 points. The 3-4-5 places were all decided by one point.

Johnson returns to team action on Monday at Roselle Catholic. Johnson's fifth place showing was impressive due to the fact that they were shorthanded due to the absense of 2nd singles Mike Monagle. Monagle is out with an injury and his future status as well as the team's lineup status is uncertain.
